North Georgia Mountain Getaway
Hosted by

About this listing
Escape to the beautiful mountains of North Georgia! This mountain cabin was built my father, who also worked on many Kingdom Hall construction projects in his younger years. This home was built to last! It features massive timbers, a large stone fireplace and chimney, beautiful large porches with swings, and more, but the most stunning feature is the spectacular mountain view! My father died faithfully in 2020, and I’m sure he would be happy to know it is now being shared with friends.

Description
The Space
This home was lovingly completed in 1975 by my father, and is full of history and stories. He and my mother raised my sister and me there. Both parents have since passed, and I am happy to now share it with our spiritual family! Here are some things to keep in mind about the space:
- There are 3 bedrooms, but you must walk through the second bedroom to reach the third, so privacy is limited between those 2.
- The large main bedroom features a luxury king mattress and bedding on an adjustable base.
- The second bedroom contains a full (double) size bed.
- The third bedroom holds a queen size bed, and has an attached laundry room with washer and dryer that you are free to use.
- There is one full bathroom in the home. It is rather small. Hair dryer and towels included.
- The kitchen includes refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and basic cooking/dining utensils. There is no dishwasher.
- The living room features leather furniture, a massage chair, and a large working fireplace.
- There aren’t many places in the area that are better for stargazing! With almost no light pollution, the night sky is simply stunning.
- Included: Limited paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing soap, laundry detergent. For longer stays, it is recommended that you bring additional such supplies.
Guest Access
The entire home and 7.5 acres of wooded property is at your disposal! Just do not enter the workshops or the treehouse as they are unsafe and in need of repair.
Interaction with Guests
I do not live local, but can be reached by phone or text any time during your stay if you should need assistance.
Other Things to Note
It is not unusual to see various wildlife, including squirrels, rabbits, foxes, deer, an occasional bear, and even a VERY rare mountain lion! You may hear (but probably won’t see) owls and coyotes.
The Neighborhood
The area is very rural. There are a few houses on Turvey-Nichols Rd, and one of those homes is next door on the same hill as this property. However, those neighbors are very quiet and respectful. Directly below is an older home owned and occupied by a local congregation pioneer sister. The area is close to many beautiful mountain drives, and the local forestry roads (beginning about 3 miles away) can offer some of the prettiest wilderness in the South. In the summer months, Ocoee whitewater rafting is a relatively short drive away. Blue Ridge and Elijay make for a nice day trip.
Getting Around
The driveway is rather steep and gravel. It is easily accessed by car. There is no public transportation. There are a couple small stores within 5 miles (such as Dollar General) where some basics can be purchased, but the nearest grocery store is over 10 miles away. The Kingdom Hall is about 15 miles away.
