Getting Around

Santa Monica pier; followed by the third Street promenade and all the restaurants on 2nd Street.

After that, you can come down through Manhattan and Hermosa Beaches and see their Pier, but actually it’s Redondo Beach pier that is shaped like a triangle or circular pier which is most interesting.

This strand is a famous nightclub out there where a few musicians started their careers (like the whiskey a gogo when you go to Sunset and Vine).

Once you pass Redondo Beach, make sure you stop at the Starbucks in Rancho Palos Verdes to catch the sunset! I’m pretty sure that that address is 31202 W. Palos Verdes Dr., but check it to be sure.

After that, make sure you hit the Korean peace be Nicolas Cage and other people like the usual suspects was filmed there.

Make sure you come back on the 47 or what is known as the the Saint Thomas Bridge; it overlooks Los Angeles Harbor, and you can see some of the battleships and all of the container ships there.

Pass-through second Street in Long Beach, where all the bars and restaurants are!!! you guys will have a lot of fun in that 2nd Street area of Long Beach.

After that Seal Beach is pretty small and the Huntington Beach pier is a little bit different and bigger. Huntington has fire pit in case you want to have a bonfire. It’s awesome!

If you’re more into shopping, South Coast Plaza is one of the nicer places to go; but along the coast, you might want to swing through fashion Island, and near there there is the Back Bay Loop, Trail if you like canoeing or hiking. it’s more of a marsh preserve, but it’s cool cool!

From there, you’ll be real close to Balboa Island, which is very quaint and has its own quiet shops and restaurants. You could take the ferry across to the Balboa fun zone before heading over to Corona Del Mar State Beach!!!

Corona Del Mar State Beach is awesome because they have some limestone or sandstone cliffs that you can take a trail down to the beach and there’s a little cave down there. It’s pretty cool. You can see it at low tide. It’s also at the opening of Newport Beach Harbor, and you could see all the boats go in and out from there as it is also a great place to see, the sunset.

From there along the coast, you’re going to hit Laguna Beach. Couple places you see while you’re down there is 1000 steps beach and little Laguna Beach. It is packed down there and crowded but Adonis restaurant has great lamb kebab and the Weiland photo gallery art gallery is down there. And make sure you take the free trolley up and down the coast. It’s free.

One thing that you must do in Laguna Beach is find your way to the rooftop lounge from there you can watch an amazing sunset and have some cocktails and appetizers or whatever. I’m pretty sure it’s at the top of the old Laguna hotel, which is an old wooden hotel. Very noisy place to stay, but it’s still really cool to see.

After that, there’s Dana Point Harbor. There’s a tall Alice ship there that I think is part of a museum and it’s right below the Dana Point conservation preserve Trail. Make sure you go out to the point of the trail. Another amazing place to see the sunset, but don’t get too close to the cliff.S!!!)

After that is San Clemente Pier that you can Google it’s a very quiet small place, but it’s more quaint.

Farthest south is Carlsbad the port down there has an upstairs dining room and restaurant which is a fun place to go and have pizza and see the sunset. There’s also all the shops down there at Carlsbad Village. That’s a day trip and itself.

Closer to home there’s orange Hill restaurant and that is at 6410 E. Chapman Ave. in Orange they have fire pits out there and it’s a great place to go and sit and catch the sunset; the service sucks but the view is great!
